Capability 03 of 05 — Stairs & rails
Open-riser stairs, laminated treads and concealed light
Open-riser stairs, laminated treads and rails bent to the drawing, coordinated with the steel before a board is cut.
Stairs are the one run where we cannot scribe our way out of a mistake. Treads are laminated and shaped on the floor, and every one is drawn against the stringer the fabricator is actually making.
Steel liaison starts at the shop-drawing stage: we send the fabricator the interface drawings and get their shop set back before we cut. Concealed fixings are drawn so the tread reads as a solid block.
Light channels are routed before finish. Rails are bent, sanded and finished in the shop and fitted last, once the treads are set.
